We plan a significant event for March 2006: we inaugurate our newest graduates of the MASTER of CLEANING certificate within an international professional circle during the 7th CEM (Central European Meeting) that is going to be a two-day program and, at the same time we cut the ribbon virtually for the FIRST Cleaning Competence Centre, as well as we organise a debate on the first year of cleaning as a trade, i.e. the YEAR OF THE PROFESSIONAL CLEANER. It goes without saying, we have a specific program also for the coming year that we want to start on broader base of the Chamber this time, it will be the YEAR OF COMPETENCE. High light of the event will be the already traditional 2nd CLEANING BALL, which we want to meet with extra fancy programs and guests. You should earmark in your agenda March 3 to 4 now, venue of the event will be the EUROPEAN CLEANING COMPETENCE CENTRE.

Recently three rounds of examinations were completed in the EUROPEAN CENTRE OF CLEANING COMPETENCE, where exactly 84 attendees passed the practical and theoretical exam with success. Also the new practical examination system based on competence was tried. It was a pleasure to see examinees handle high pressure washers, single disc machines and manual devices, and actually remove contaminating substances prepared for the occasion, such as graffiti, mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup, goose fat, coffee and the like. The examination chairmen: Ferenc Drabek (GTE, Scientific Society of Mechanical Engineering), Dr. László Deák (GTE) and Dr. Béla Hamzsa (FMM, Ministry of Labour). They spoke contentedly about the level of preparedness at all the three student groups, and about the good equipment of the professional centre. The average score was ‘good’. Everyone was well prepared, although excitement was high. Our congratulations for all who passed the exam with praise, and we are looking forward to December 22 when the ceremony of taking of the oath and graduation will take place.

Training in Practice This is the highest level in cleaner education, improving skills and widening theoretical knowledge. The EUROPEAN SKILL CENTER in Budapest is a centre for improving skills and making experiments on about 300 sq. m that is unique in Hungary, where trainees in cleaning can actually acquire the kinds of competence needed for their trade. Aim of the establishers has been, to make the centre, with its specially designed surfaces, with possibilities to create dirt in a controlled way, and with its machines, devices and products employable in practice, a central place of practical training, as well as a centre of examination in a short time. Its significance is enormous especially at present, because here in Hungary the CLEANER as a state approved branch of vocational training has recently been established and it is essential, what kinds of guaranties will the recently launched training branch be able to offer to employers. In this sense, the EUROPEAN SKILL CENTER also intends to develop into a centre of competition and conferences within the trade, i.e. to become such a meeting point, where professionals (manufacturers, distributors, consultants, servicing and operating companies, FM professionals) can find each other. As the venue of future CEM (Central European Meeting) conferences, it will also have a decisive international role. The EUROPEAN SKILL CENTER is not committed to any supplier, it even creates an opportunity for all of them to introduce themselves and check their standard times under real working conditions. We for this reason are looking for contacts with every manufacturer of machines, devices and cleaning chemicals to integrate their products into the educational system of the new centre. Besides, we should like to highly emphasise specific needs of the surfaces to be cleaned and, for this reason we search possibilities to co-operate with their suppliers in a mutually advantageous way. Through links to this page we provide our supporters with further chances of making themselves known. The EUROPEAN SKILL CENTER has been founded on projects from CED Cleaning, Developing and Consulting Inc. and it is operated by KonfirMATISZ Education and Commercial Ltd.

It is with the deepest regret and sadness to inform you of the death of one of the industrys mostloved and respected characters who died on the 26th June after a battle against cancer. Roger added humour and a wonderful positive cheery attitude to all occasions of his Professional and private life. He thrived in the cleaning industry for over twenty five years during which time he worked for Radium Chemicals Wetrok and latterly the FCM Group Roger will leave a great void and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family Alison Adam Holly and Issy.

Ex libris appeared at the same time as printed books. They represented a counterpole to the "mass production" of Guthenberg style variable press by their being unique, unalterable and limited in repetition. The marking of someone' own book might have been an aristocratic nostalgia in a sense, but all the same, the sign of bourgeois civilization. The aim of the designing artists (Albrecht Dürer among the first ones) went further than naming the book's owner, it was to show something of his profession and interests to the observer. That time already, almost half a millennium ago, ex libris was much more than a "modern" version of the coat-of-arms for noblemen. That time such occupations as a doctor, a lawyer or a banker appeared as independent professions and they got wide appreciation. Of course, ex libris was always only accompanying books and it has counted to the latest times as something like driving a Trabant in a cap and a T-shirt with a Mercedes key-ring. We have become more flexible in this respect. Ex libris became the devotion of collectors and valuable pieces of collections, it is sure nobody would stick a single one into his book any more. But it was deadly serious protocol some time ago. There are books in Teleky Téka in Marosvásárhely (Targu-Mures/Romania), of which from the inner side of the dust covers 8 pieces of consecutive ex libris leaves have been peeled off. Since 1956, FIDEN offers a platform for building cleaning companies to exchange experiences and to install business and personal contacts on a European and international level. FIDEN hosts at least one congress annually, offering to members information from renowned experts on current subjects of building cleaning in a pleasant environment. Besides this, FIDEN takes part in a number of events and specialist exhibitions on a European level and there offers a point of contact for its members. At regular intervals, the FIDEN newsletter is published. Also, members receive selected information from the organs of the EU.

With it the professional works can be transformable into multiple-choice questions, right and wrong answers and megtanulandó statements. It can also be convertible into digital curricula, which can be installed into databases on the Internet. It can service a new type of e-Learning system. The e-LearningRitz is a távképzési system, which opposes the conventional systems, and tests before teach. The sent curricula are totally testre szabott and the programme solely makes up on the result of the person in each case. One course contains minimum 21 tests, which means, that the student gets 21 packs. The programme considers the student’s entrance level and accordingly raises or reduces the amount of the questions. Furthermore the programme – with asking again the wrong answers – also observes the students learning skills and uses rasing and reducing of the amount of the questions, but if the rate of the right answers can not reach 10% it will end the service.

Alfred Richter's goal was to gather together other like-character individuals for the sole purpose of self-betterment of the janitorial industry as well as the health of the nation. Over the years, the association continued to grow from its founding members to over 4,700 today. As membership increased around the world, the association decided to change its name to the International Sanitary Supply Association in 1966 to reflect the growing international membership. ISSA is now the leading international trade association for the cleaning and maintenance industry with more than 4,700 distributor, wholesaler, manufacturer, manufacturer representative, and associate companies in the world. Its ISSA/INTERCLEAN® exhibitions, conventions and educational conferences are the leading and most attended such events in the world.

Amsterdam, 4th May 2005 – ISSA and the Polish Cleaning Association (PSC) have today released first details of the content and speakers for their conference program at this year’s ISSA/INTERCLEAN Central & Eastern Europe 2005. The conference program is part of the international trade fair for the professional cleaning industry in Central & Eastern Europe, which is organised by Amsterdam RAI and ISSA in cooperation with the Polish Cleaning Association (PSC). Offering an opportunity to find out about one of the most important regions in the cleaning industry over the next decade, the exhibition which takes place in the EXPO XXI Warsaw International Exhibition Centre, Poland from 30th June - 2nd July 2005 will give visitors a superb insight into many of the key issues and opportunities for this rapidly growing Central and Eastern European market. The first day’s programme of the conference, which starts on July 1st, will deal with some of the most important issues in the cleaning industry, including hospital cleaning, health and safety issues, mold treatment and cleaning in the food servicing and food processing industry with presentations by leading spokespeople. On the second day, starting at nine o’clock in the morning, exhibitors, distributors and major customers can participate in a seminar entitled, "How to do business in the cleaning industry in the emerging EU economies and the CIS countries".
